Erm, no I'm not NorwegianAnyway if you are norwegian you can get a silver one...
:rotfl:
Actually, I think the silver looks really nice so I'll be well pleased if I get one. :j
BTW Mincer, how long have you had your K510i and have you had any problems with the joystick navigator? I know that some SE's are reported to have developed faulty joysticks after certain periods of use but I don't know how much things have improved from earlier models. Also, gaming_guy, what's your opinion/experience of this problem :question:0 -
I've had it about 12 months or so - no problems with it even after my son dropped it from a height whilst trying to take a photo. Front and back covers both came off - put it back together and it's fine.
Looking a bit scratched up now (I don't look after it - same pocket as keys!!!)so I'm going to look for a new cover. All the World is a Stage; and I'm going through a difficult one at the moment!0 -
I was actually wondering whether you needed a special tool to change the covers but I think you've just answered my question.I've had it about 12 months or so - no problems with it even after my son dropped it from a height whilst trying to take a photo. Looks like you can pick up "after-market" covers on eBay from about 4 quid delivered (or a few quid more if you want a silver one
). I also saw a silver K510i for sale (could just be an after-market cover) but the picture used is from a czech website:

i sent my old k700i in to have the joystick replaced after a year of heavy usage (at the beginning of the year).
i think my old k700i outperforms the k510i by far. i have used a k510i, but i think the k700i is better overall (even though the k700i only has a vga camera) in terms of featuresbarginunter wrote: »Just ordered one of these - does anyone know how they unlock?
these can be unlocked by the network the phone was purchased on, or a local market stall/shop0 -
I know that some SE's are reported to have developed faulty joysticks after certain periods of use but I don't know how much things have improved from earlier models.
I've had a K series Sony Ericsson with a joystick that got temperamental after 18 months or so of normal use. When the 'down' finally stopped working altogether I did a bit of searching around the net and decided to take it apart. It's an easy job - only a few screws to remove the front plate, and I found an unbelievable amount dust and fluff under there. I popped the joystick off, and cleaned gently around the pad underneath, and it's been working as good as new ever since.
In fact it's even better than new - buoyed by that success I got a bit cavalier and decided to build up the inside of the joystick button (I put a small piece of something in the little hole, can't remember what!) That way it sits higher on the pole that moves around on. This increases the leverage and seems to make the joystick a bit more responsive than before.
I don't think the Sony Ericsson joystick problems are usually terminal, and personally I'd be happy to have another one.0 -

I take it you haven't actually got one of these - I can take the cover and keypad off and put it back on with fingers no screws involved (unless there is a Mark 2 version) - haven't tried taking the joystick off yet.
Edit - Just popped the front cover off just to make sure - off and back on in 20 seconds - Fatal Swan must be talking about a a different K series phone. All the World is a Stage; and I'm going through a difficult one at the moment!0 -

You're right, I haven't got the K510i - though I know of several Sony Ericsson Kxxx phones which do have 4 T6 screws keeping the front plate on. Looks like the K510i doesn't then, thanks for pointing this out - apologies.0
