Sony Ericsson K510i - £34.98 delivered

http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/content/products/details/?modelcode=SON-K510I

Use Google Checkout for this price - next nearest seems to be £60.

I've got this phone and it's pretty good - photos good, intuitive to use, good battery life etc.

Edit: forgot to add - Vodaphone.

It certainly seems a good price for a mid-range phone with a 1.3Mp camera, but I'm a bit suspicious that Empire Stores may be up to their old tricks again and may send a lesser model (anyone remember the digital camera debacle a while back?) :wall:

For starters, the price is more along the lines of what other places are charging for a K310i (which only has a 0.3 Mp camera), but my major concern is that they advertise the phone as being SILVER, but according to the SE website, the K510i is only available in black or purple (although the K310i IS available in silver).

Has anyone bought this phone from Empire who can dispel my suspicions?
Or Does anyone know whether you can in fact buy these in silver from new?

SE website actually says it's also available in red - no mention of silver.

However if you look at the web page below, there is a small thumbnail of what looks like a silver (perhaps white) one. It might be one of those 'exclusive to Vodaphone' things - but the simple answer is give them a ring at empiredirect or e-mail them to confirm.

Edit - Link removed as it isn't working - see below.

Oh and just an after thought this is not Empire Stores - it is a different company all together - so the camera c*ck up shouldn't worry you!

Yeah, I forgot about the "seductive red" one.

The link you have posted shows three clickable thumbnails and one link to a video, but I can't see a pic of a white / silver one (although they do look partly silver from the side view). Mind you, I think you have a good point that it could be "exclusive to Vodafone". Anyway, I've ordered one, so I'll see what arrives.

I must admit that I'm feeling a bit silly getting confused with Empire Stores. I have read through your post and clicked through to the Empiredirect website quite a few times (including clicking through from Quidco) but all along I was thinking Empire STORES in the back of my mind. I even have a link to Empiredirect in my favourites under "electrical dealers" - nothing like Empire Stores which is a shambles of a company.:wall:

    DEFINITELY not worth 60 quid.
You can buy a K750i from play.com for £65 delivered or a V630i (including speakers) for £70 - both have 2.0Mp camera and expandable memory so you can make the most of the mp3 player function. ;)

Don't worry it's a birthday present for the mother-in-law, so looks and price more important that features ;)

Orange were selling them for £45 until they ran out of stock a couple of weeks ago.

Yeah, I noticed that, but I think you had to buy £10 topup on top, and it would no doubt be locked to Orange (no good if you're a Vodafone user like me).

BTW, if it's only for MIL, have you checked out this thread?:

Weird it was definately there - the second thumbnail had another phone stood up next to the black one - but if you clicked through it just showed the black one ???

Anyway if you are norwegian you can get a silver one - so at least we know that they are about.
