Also, according to the DWP guidance, you do not have to allow them access to your account. if you have one.
The UJM site actually says on it that you don't need an account, you can use it anyway.
The account is just for tracking you!
It's not just for tracking, it's for Sanctions and helping fuel govt propoganda on falling unemployment/benefit figures.
Look at the way it's set up. Why should you give a reason for not applying for a job? There are 8 'reasons' for not applying, 6 of those can definitely lead to a sanction. If you allowed JC access to your account you'd start getting lots of 'recommended' vacancies (I should imagine) and if you didn't apply you'd have to give a reason why not. Not that i'm sceptical, but I should also imagine - bearing in mind the amount of time you are expected to be spending looking for work - you'd probably end up having to look at EVERY job posted and click the...'Or, tell us why you don't wish to apply for this job', button.
Most of the jobs on there you don't need an account to apply for, but there are a few you can only apply for through the gateway. I have signed up just so I can apply for those particular vacancies but that's the only time I'll ever log in.
My JC have been told they're not getting access several times and seem quite happy to let me keep filling in those badly designed little grey 'looking for work' booklets. Well, I say happy, the last time I asked for some more booklets I'd wound the advisor up so much he threw 5 across the table at me :rotfl:0 -
They dont give out the paper sheets anymore at my JC ....But I have all the info on my tablet ...I am going to ask to see a copy of the mandate stating that you HAVE to provide hard copy screen prints but ..I dont think there is one as i have trawled the internet and cannot find anything..I think it depends on what little Hitler you get how he interprets the regs and whether he needs to sanction some more people to meet his targets ...:rotfl:0

They can not make you give them hard copies unless they want to pay for them
Write a list down instead - easy! We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Yep, just write it down. As long as you're providing enough info to make it checkable, ie, employers email, or phone number, or postal address, job reference number if there is one - that sort of thing, then you've done what is needed.
I challenged an awkward advisor to contact any of the 20+email addresses I had scribbled down on a piece of A4 and submitted as employer contacts and his response was ..'I'm not likely to do that am I'

I agree, the whole thing is set up to "automate" sanctions, and it is clearly against the jobseekers interests to log on to the system.
If it were in my interests, I would log in, for example, if they carried out the proposal, that you would not need to travel to the jobcentre to sign on every fortnight/week, then I wouldn't have a problem with it.
On the screen print thing, I don't think a sanction would stick for not providing them, as long as you have written down the contact details and dates.
The reason I started doing the screen prints on the memory stick was that my old work program adviser (top bloke) said to me "if you bring in screen shots of your jobsearch activity then you don't need to come in here to do the 90 min secession. I only had to do the "one2one" interviews and a phone call once a fortnight.
Carrot works better than stick with me, and anyway, he could see that I was really trying to find work and being mean to me wouldn't make any difference.
I would also say that the rules are constantly changing, so beware, they could change the policy at any time so keep abreast of developments.0 -
Does anyone know how you can remove permission for agreeing the JC can check your universal job match login? I agreed to them looking at mine as I do look everyday so had no objection to anyone checking this as I have been doing it anyway. However the site is awful to log onto, its sometimes takes forever to get to the page you need so I have stopped loging in. I do still look, I have the page I need saved in my favorites and it is just one click for me to see all the jobs available. To be honest the site is useless anyway I look as you never know, but there is never much on it, I spend much more of my time on sites like indeed etc as these are so much better (but was told by a JC adviser these do not count towards my actions I have to do). I still look at them as I want to find work but it seems to me those who just do the minimum that is expected will not find work as the jobs are not advertised on the universal match site.0

Just take the TICK out of the box giving them permission to spy on you ...that should be enough....0
