Well done NTL...NOT

Good old NTL.
My 80 yr old mum, living alone since Dad died a year ago is moving to a Warden assisted flat next week. I phoned NTL for her, as phone provider, to arrange for a line to be organised at the flat, then moved next Saturday.
All very sweet so far, they couldnt do enough.
Except, Mum gets a call from Customer services Friday AM, to say that the engineer could not gain access to the flat, that her number was due to swap sites friday (it was not), and promptly put the phone down, and disconnected her line.
It took calls from myself, and a neighbour to restore service, each of us being given a different story. It also tuns out that as iff by Magic, the engineer did sort out her phone at the new flat?
My Mum is not in the best of health, and if anything had happened to her whilst there was no phone, then God help them!
I suggest to anyone out there who needs a reliable service, ready for emergencies, forget NTL.
Be warned.

We have had the same problem just recently when moving my elderly grandmother into warden controlled flats. First they installed the extension for the telephone incorrectly and therefore they had to come out again to sort it. Luckly she had BT there while we were sorting out the NTL connection otherwise she would have been without a phoneline. Also they still haven't transfered her old telephone number over despite many phonecalls with promises of it going through in a couple of days.0
