Carers Allowance just stopped without warning

Yesterday we noticed that the normal amount had not gone in the bank.

Today hubby queried it and they said well you are self employed and need to get us your end of year stuff.

ermmmmmm... we have had no notification that we need to do this yet and why do they actually stop the benefit from April. That seems rather weird.

Is this right or was the adviser making it up.

Do they stop CA for self employed people on the new tax year?? This seems rather odd as surely anyone getting any money would need to give in their earnings?

confused..... please advise

To claim carers you can only earn I think £100 per week, maybe you need to send in accounts to prove the self employment isn't over this

Who is the self-employed person and who is claiming the carer's allowance? (is it the same person for both?

Don't know if it's relevant for CA but we sometimes find that this time of year "computer says no" kicks in and DLA stops without anyone being aware of it. Then we phone up, they reinstate it, and we carry on as normal till next April........

    thanks

they are sending a form through.

I personally would have tried a bit more but hubby is doing it and tbh I feel bad enough today that I am going to have to let him sort it anyway.
