Lidl do packs of cooking bacon too, £1.89 a kilo. Like everywhere else the actual contents are quite variable, I've had four or five massive gammon steaks in a pack or about a hundred half rashers of streaky bacon. The quality and taste is good though. Well worth trying.
    Val.
  • I like the Sainsbury's cooking bacon (fresh not frozen) - it's always stuffed with thick end pieces of lean gammon. I like to chop up, fry, then freeze so that it's handy for throwing in pasta dishes, omelettes, etc for a quick meal.

I can't help but note that this is more expensive (94.5p/500g) than ASDA and Tesco (81p/500g).
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

Lidl's Chira brand cooking bacon is actually £1.62 per kilo at the moment so the same price as Asda and Tesco.

I find Asda's bacon is not very nice at all, but Tesco's bacon (and indeed their value gammon joints) are very tasty.

I get the big packs/trays of butchers bacon from Morrisons whenever I see them in the reduced section these days as they are the (very nice) bacon from the butchers counter cut up into small pieces and are excellent value & delicious (no huge bits of fat & rind hiding in the pack).

If I need/want sliced bacon I always buy the frozen stuff from Farmfoods, as it's very nice (and cheap)!
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

It's the Great Tesco Cooking Bacon Famine of 2013. :)

Tesco Brislington, Bristol and Tesco Eastville, Bristol had no cooking bacon yesterday and earlier today respectively. They hadn't sold out, there were no SELs for it.

But, as I said, the supply can be a bit sporadic.

Boiled or scambled eggs for breakfast this week, it seems.
