LoCo2 Charging Daily Fee Twice on Energy 7

Options
Hello,

I recently switched to use LoCo2 service from Scottish Power.

I used to be with Scottish Power and switched through compare the market was going to reduce my bills mainly due to the lower standing daily charge.

However as I am on energy 7 I have two meters and am getting charged twice for the daily figure by LoCo2. This was not the case for Scottish Power and I find it misleading that its advertised as £65 for years daily charge when in reality its £130. (17.96p a day)

I am hoping there is some error otherwise I will have to swap back to SPower as the daily charge is now higher using LoCo2 and this is making my bills £5 a month higher than expected.

I called LoCo2 and they said this is the norm which I did not expect, can anyone advise please?

Also how quickly will I be able to leave LoCo2 as I only swapped at the start of the year.

Do you mean you think you have Economy 7 (rather than Energy 7)?

If you have 2 meters (rather than 2 registries on the same meter) and hence 2 MPANS, then you don't have E7.

Attempting to switch supplier with any form of 'time of use' tariff other than E7 invariably ends in tears.
  • Thanks for your reply. Oh sorry I thought I had E7, even the comparisons I did I used my bill so thought would be accurate.

I have two meters yeah. Would you be able to expand on what you mean please on the below? Sorry new to the whole energy tariffs swapping. You think I should not have swapped providers as its hard to estimate future bills?

Does your bill have 1 or 2 S numbers on it? If you have 2 you don't have E7.

Electricity suppliers are really only set up to offer new customers single rate tariffs or E7.

There are a host of other (quite rare in the scheme of things) legacy time of use tariffs that the old local electricity boards used to offer. They were specific to that electricity board. Only the original legacy supplier (or whichever private company took over their customers) are obligated to continue to support such tariffs. Even then, such suppliers often do not allow new customer applications ... and that may mean difficulties in attempting to go back to them.

Competing suppliers often do not understand the variances of all the old legacy time of use tariffs, and cannot usually support them. But by the time the customer finds out, it's often too late
