medion akoya p2004 asda purchase

I bought this on thursday (17/4) I'd checked it out on line - all in one pc, wifi mouse keyboard, 2yr warranty etc. At the time of purchase i did mention the 2 yr warranty but was told by the assistant, not as far as he was aware and all asda goods are usually 12 months!
I was only given the usual till receipt, I had paid at the cd type counter, so i thought maybe something would be in the box.
Anyway this evening I got it out the box (I had been unable to lift it out myself and put it in its place) though I could manage to put the plug in! and the batteries in the keyboard and mouse too, not bad considering i can only use one hand. The actual instructions are sparse and the manual is available once set up complete.

I noticed that although the mouse has an on/off switch I couldn't find anything similar on the keyboard, which appears to be as dead as a dodo. I switched batteries around, no change and even replaced with new still the keyboard appears to be dead.

The pc by now had begun setup, well it asked what language, at this stage it was still english (later a little colour was added) and would I like to give the pc a name, eg lounge pc was already pre-filled.
Ooops, wifi mouse and keyboard, inactive! So I searched and found a spare usb mouse, but i don't have a spare usb keyboard, so set up is halted as without a keyboard I can't delete and enter something else and I can't proceed as no matter what I call it and however many times I click the next button I can get no further!!

According to the customer comment left on the asda direct site it took someone just 3 minutes, can someone tell me where i may have gone wrong:beer:

the wireless keyboard I had, had a tiny button on the bottom you had to press to get it to link to the computer, its a little rubber thing recessed into the base, a bit larger than the point on a biro.
Failing that get a USB k/b to do the setup

Thankyou, I have looked round and round the keyboard for anything that could be a switch.
A usb keyboard is being picked up this morning, as this keyboard is really cheap looking and feels very flimsy, the mouse isn't much better so l will probably use my usb one to get the set up done...so I will just have to keep fingers crossed that the set up goes ok, or the whole lot gets taken back.....:)

Medion PC's appear to only get a 2 year warranty - when you purchase them, in person, from Aldi - even my Medion PC (Purchased last year from Medion.com) only came with a 12 month warranty !
Needless to say - I am happy with my PC - a P7 Processor really flies and cost only £485 (with Quidco cashback)

I bought this pc as well and wondered about the warranty it does state two years parts and two years labour on the ASDA direct website.

Like the op I was told instore they only give one years warranty,i am waiting on them replying to an email in regards to it.

As for the keyboard and mouse did you put the little wireless dongle that comes with them into a usb port ? You never mentioned in your original post if you did, you need that to make them work.I have made that mistake in the past when using wireless keyboards and mice.

The KB & Mouse is pants, get a Logitec & Mouse for about £21.
As for the warranty, just print off the website that shows the 2 yr gtee, Im sure ASDA will honour it.

Thank you for your reply, it seems that 12 months is the stock staff reply then.....perhaps when they reply they will have checked their own website :)

I saw that tiny gizmo it was in with the batteries(doh!) and no I hadn't even thought about it being anything to do with mouse/kb. No mention of it in the very sparse few lines of instructions, and the 'manual' being on line a bit of a catch 22.

I got a Logitech keyboard yesterday and I already had a Logitech mouse, so I was finally able set it up (pc not the dongle) so far I'm not taking to 8! But I'll have to learn...still have printers to set up that will probably be another nightmare

Thanks for that , just what I have done, I had a Logitech mouse already and got a Logitech keyboard yesterday so at least I could proceed to at least look at the manual

That keyboard supplied was dreadful, bubbled black plastic overlaid badly on the keys, really cheap and tacky, much happier with this one. My 'old' one had lost most of the print off the keys and had the wrong fitting or I would have used that.

Once I have printer set up, I'll print the spec off from their site 'just in case' Although it maybe just 12 months from Asda and the 2yr bit being manufacturer? But hopefully it won't be necessary.
