Thanks for your replies.
As I stated, their returns policy is flexible, which is why I bought the shirt without trying it on. As there was no Medium available on both visits a refund or store credit was the only option. I was just surprised at being asked to pay the difference had a Medium been available as it's never happened to me before and it's not specifically mentioned in their Ts & Cs.
It seems other retailers have been more than accomodating. Guess I should stick to what I know!
