The storys is when I was 18 I was a idiot and racked up quite abit of debt (5k)
And in my wisdom decided I wasnt going to pay and it may go away.
It didnt and I came to my senses eventually and paid it all back .
Now at the grand old age of 26, and I want to rent through a letting agence and have found a perfect flat for me and my partner but.. I recently found out I have a ccj back from 08 that I didnt know about which is unpaid .I am now going through the process to find if I still owe this and sort it out ..
But from reading many forums landlords see a ccj and that seems to be a big flashing light screaming AVOID !!!
I can understand this but would you be more likely to consider a tennant that offerd a guarantor AND rent insurance ???
We are both in full time work with a joint earning of 40k he has never been in debt and has a very good score .
Thanks

Do you have the resources to pay, say, 6 months rent in advance?
That would probably go a long way.I was a DFW, now I'm a MFW :T0 -
This is the only thing I cannot do as I do not have enough savings the ccj is for £300 and I will be sorting this out asap althou I thought I had paid back all my debt this has either slipped the net or I have paid it back direct and it needs following up.
I have contacted my last landlord aand they are happy to give a refrence.
There are no private rental propertys in my area .0 -
What price is the rental and how much does your partner earn?
Rent warranty can only be taken out on people that have passed referencing.
As IWN says, paying six months up front is a way round some of this.0 -
Rental is 696 pcm and we both earn 20k a year so he could show he can afford to pay the rent by himself if needs be .
And as we both living at seperate parents homes and its not possible to save that much as we have saved enough for the fees, deposit,1st months rent and furniture.. that pretty much our budget .0
