hello this is my first post on here and the reason is i have just recevieved my latest eletric bill, i live on my own in a 2 bedroom apartment (2nd bedroom dosnt get used), i normally pay around £30 a month for my eletric which i was recommended to pay by edf, however i have just received a bill saying my direct debit is going to go up to £130pm this is just for eletric as i do not have gas. i dont know but this does seem a lot and was hoping people on here could tell me as i dont really understand this.

i have got quite a lot of eletrical devices but im at work most the time anyway, and i do have a miroserver running 24/7

according from what i can understand on the bill i have used 1533kwh between 07/12/12 - 08/03/13

does this seem normal?

£30 is way too low for an all electric flat unless you are very frugal. Is your bill based on actual or estimated readings? How often have you been reading the meter? What sort of heating do you have and how well insulated in the flat? You are likely only at work about one quarter of the hours in the week, not most of the time. How much do you use the heating and what ambient temperature do you like it?

Lighting and gadgets use relatively little energy: your big guzzlers are heating, power showers, laundry at higher temperatures, tumble dryer.

510 kWh is good going for a winter month. Well done. The debit has gone from one extreme to another - the trouble is you have been using just under £80 of electricity over winter - a £50 per month shortfall. Say your annual bill should be £60 per month (averaging over year (510 for six winter and 150 for six summer)). They still have to add on £50 for six months or so to claw back the underspend.

You are paying a bit more than you should - but, unfortunately, not as much more as you may think.

    what size microsever, 1u ?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

(I would say 1U is hardly micro!) I doubt the server is a problem - unless it is a full scale farm it is not going to use much more than a fridge, say one and a half kWhs per day.
