BIRMINGHAM - Anyone live in The Cube?

Hey guys, I'm moving to Birmingham where I'll commute to work in Redditch. I'm a junior doctor and I'll be earning about 30k per year and I'm looking for a nice studio/1 bed in the centre of town - I've been studying in a quaint part of the country for years and am looking forward to enjoying the city for once!
I have my eye on The Cube, seems like a pretty swish place and the rent has been falling since the crash.
Anybody live there and can give me their take on it?
Also wondering what you do for parking and how much the gym costs, they don't list the latter online and that's generally a bad sign...

Sorry no idea about the cube, but if you need any info on redditch just let me know, it's not quite as busy or lively as birmingham but not a bad place to live really:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly0

Thanks! I'm sure Redditch is lovely but I'm really a city boy and I've been stuck in the rural south west for 5 years so I basically need to binge on central Bham to be honest
Looking forward to working in Redditch though! Can you tell me how far Alexandra Hospital is from the train station?0 -
About 15 mins by bus, theres a few that go there from the bus station which is across the road from the train station so quite easy. Just bear in mind the bus service is a bit iffy at the mo as a new company has taken over but hopefully should be sorted soon, thankfully I can walk everywhere i need to get to lol:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly0

Hi Yixian,
FYI if you hit the rush hour in or out of B'ham it will take you at least half an hour to do four miles, ie from Southern edge of Brum (maypole) to the centre. Adding on the journey time by car to Redditch and your long working hours you may choose to find cheaper lodging in Redditch area then party in Brum with taxi back? Or I suggest you rent in Kings Heath area of Brum because it's near the main road to Redditch and about 20 min drive to hosp. But on main bus/taxi/cycle route to centre of town.
hope this helps

Hi I don't live in the Cube but I know the area quite well. All the rental properties are in the West Wing - the other half is for owner occupiers only. There is definitely parking available as they have an automatic parking system (it parks your car for you!) although i don't know for how many spaces. I would have thought each flat/apartment would have min of 1 each.
Right next to the Mailbox so good for restaurants, bars, clubs, designer shopping. Although the Bullring and the rest of the city centre is only a short walk away also.
Dunno if that helps?0 -

Heya, yeah I was worried about this but speaking to the doctors currently working in Alexandra it's usually only a 30-45 min commute, and I've said anything under an hour is fine by me.
One of the perks of living somewhere like the Cube is that the gym, which I go to at least 5 times a week, is built in. That alone saves me 20-30 mins at least.0 -

Heya, thanks a lot that does help. I've seen the car park, looks pretty swish but it's 120 quid a month... not sure how that compares to parking elsewhere in the city centre but it sounds pretty insane to me haha. Still again, the convenience of it may be worth it.
I suppose the final thing I need to know is the price of the gym, I've asked them but not heard back yet.
And otherwise I was just wondering what people who have lived there thought of it, maybe someone who has lived in one of the studios as that's probably what I'll end up with.0 -
For parking - 120 per month x 12 / 365 days a year = £3.95 a day.
You'd be lucky to get anywhere else in the city for that kind of daily rate! Some places want more than that for an hour or two!
Good luck with it all0 -

Haha yeah, after a look on Parkopedia I figured as much..
Well I better just hope the gym isn't too extortionate then or my city pad dreams will start fading!0
