Correct info on parking ticket? Should I appeal further?

Hi all,

I have got a parking ticket under code 01 and was just wanting to check if I have any grounds to further appeal based on the ticket not meeting requirements.

I had a parking ticket previously and was told by someone on a forum that Leeds Council had had lots of tickets cancelled at adjudication because they only quoted one time - apparently tickets must have both 'time observed' and 'time issued' on them (not including the payment slip). Mine has the date it was served on (without the time) and the date of contravention (with time).

Additionally, my ticket also says my tax is expired which is patently not true. My tax disc has several months left on it and was correctly displayed at the time of issue.

Does anyone think I have grounds for appeal? Sure, I'm scraping the barrel, but like all of us, I don't have money to burn for a genuine mistake!

Thanks

Lindsey

  • Go to Pepipoo with this. You will find experts on appealing council tickets, who will help you with a good appeal. Not sure if expired tax is relevant - or even anything to do with the council.

Most Council parking tickets can be successfully challenged if you go as far as adjudication with some strong points (including issues with wording on the ticket). Expired/non expired tax is NOT an issue, no need to try it as it is irrelevant.

If the advice you've already got is from pepipoo then stick with it, and bump that thread if you want further opinions (it's such a fast-moving forum that your thread is soon forgotten if it drops to page 2).

If you haven't asked pepipoo yet then do so with a new thread there asap, with pics of both sides and all pages of all Notices & letters received, plus pics of the signage and briefd explanation. Tell pepipoo if you were loading/unloading or just 'parked' and why, was it single or double yellows, that sort of thing.
