Holidaying in Term time

We have taken our children out of school for holidays and the main reason has been cost yet I choose to write the fact that my husband is way down at the bottom of the holiday list where he works (also true). We tend to take them at the end of the school year where they won't be missing as much( go on all you teachers tell me any difference) or near to the start of term long enough to have settled in.Now on this I'm not sure but are you "unofficially" allowed 10 days? Offer to take work and reading books with you I do but have never been given any. I know it's off on a slight tangent but my d.d. was off after an operation (tonsils) for 3 weeks and I didn't receive any exta work to keep her up to date she simply caught up when she returned.Take your son and enjoyLife is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

Same round here, they allowed it unless it was an important time of year (for exams or revision) but even during exam time, they let me out of school. That was 5/6 years ago though!0

I got the form back to day and it has been authorised. I am so relieved and can go away without worrying now. I do know some parents have been refused by the school, although I don't know their individual circumstances. I suspect mine was approved because my son hasn't had any other days off and is above average in his class (I wouldn't have asked if not). However this does not make it fair on the other children, it is not the child's fault if they have been ill or are not as bright.0
