Where can I buy packaging in bulk for cheap?

I'm selling on ebay, but where can I buy packaging and bubble wrap. Is there a website that specialise in this? Can I buy it cheap in bulk?

Depends on what you are selling?

I get all my bubble wrap FREE from Asda and Sainsbury's. All the fruit is seperated in layers with nice, neat sheets of the stuff that they are only too glad to get rid of. ;)

I used them a few months back to order a box of 100 jiffy bags. I was a bit shocked then to look on ebay and see that i could have bought 25->50 of them from ebay retailers for the same price per bag. I thought id be getting them cheaper by buying in bulk!

    Oh well!

It depends on how much packaging you require.
Any retail/market stall seller that sells fruit & veg has thin bubble wrap/cardboard boxes that they usually throw away. If you have shredder (which if you haven't I would get one) use the shredded paper as packing. Regarding Jiffy bags, If you only want 'ones and twos' then ask anyone you know who works in an office, as there are usually quite alot that organisations throw away and you can recycle these. If you need giant sized Jiffy bags (approx 440 x 650mm) and require larger quantities, then PM me and I will give you more details.

  • If you dont mind going round the back of shops try local furniture stores I got 2 massive lots of bubble wrap which had been used to wrap up a 3 piece suite ..... saved me a fortune in protecting items I send

You can also phone Royal Mail customer service and ask them to send you (FREE) various sizes of silver tough-plastic special delivery bags. If you just turn them inside out then you have strong packaging with a durable sealing strip built-in, and you can use them without regard for any particular royal mail service.

I've found a supplier on ebay who does lengths of Kraft wrapping paper well cheap. I recently paid for 60 metres of the stuff (at 90cm wide) for £23. Sounds a lot but its REALLY strong paper, and when well used, better (and lighter ;)) than any box. As for bubble, I just have a stash of it, and when it gets low I normally find colleagues and stuff who are eager to get rid of theirs. I like the supermarket idea though. An excellent tip!
