Back in UK for a Year and Need a bank account

Hi All...

Im british and have been living NZ for 8 years and Im back now for upto a year to sort some family issues out.

The problem ive got is that is costing a fortune to use my nz debit card here so want to open a basic uk bank account so I can transfer some cash over in a lump.

The issue I have is I only have my uk Passport and ive just changed my UK driving licence to the address im staying at.
since Ive only been at this address(friends house) for a few weeks I dont fancy my chances of getting a bank account.

I havent tried applying yet as I want to try the best option first with the most chance of success.

Any ideas?

If you have a UK passport in date and a driving licence with your current address most banks will offer you a basic account.

Unless there was a reason why you left UK which you have not divulged there is nothing to worry about.
