Ending AST with special tenancy conditions

Hi pls can I get some advice regarding my first ever tenancy. I wish to leave my property at the end of May 2013 in order move in with someone.
I started my AST tenancy on 31.08.12 with a 12 months contract and have been in my rental property for nearly 8 months. I have read and reread my tenancy agreement and have found that under the special tenancy conditions it says
"NOTWITHSTANDING the provisions of the agreement relating to the Terms of the tenancy, it is agreed between parties that if the Tenant wishes to vacate the property, he may give to the landlord or his agent not less than one months notice in writing to terminate the tenancy. Provided that the tenancy is not terminate before six months from the commencement date of the tenancy."
So am I correct in thinking due to these "special conditions" I can give notice now to leave at end of May? many thanks for any help I can get.
xx

One month notice coinciding with your rental period. You will need to serve notice to arrive (onus on you to prove receipt by landlord) by 30 April and vacate on or before 30 May. Note that you must serve notice and leave before the end of the month, if you hand in notice on or stay until the last day of the month you have had an extra day which technically means you would owe another full month.
I think that is correct, hopefully one of our professional landlords will clarify, the fact that there is no 31 April is confuzzling me!!Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Thanks for the info, I actually plan to leave by 26th May so no probs with changing date to 30th May and my contract states that I can inform either the letting agent or landlord of my notice to leave, so I intend to do inform both by post and I have an email address for the terminations department so I will also email a copy of the letter to them.
Should I send the letters by record delivery then?0 -
Recorded delivery if you allow enough time for the landlord/ agent to sign for it (could be out or on holiday and not go to the Royal Mail office to collect it), or two copies from different Post Offices getting a proof of posting each time is our standard recommendation.
Be sure you find out when checkout is and you attend. Take loads of photos of the condition before you leave.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
