Maestro debit card online payment problems?

I do a lot of online shopping with my Yorkshire Bank Maestro card - mostly no problems.
But lately I have encountered two retailers which no longer accept them. They say that Maestro is not as secure as other cards.
It makes no difference that my card is registered with a securecode.
Anyone else had this?

I can't see them being any less secure than others.
It's more likely to do with the fact that hardly any UK banks issue them any more. They're still popular in Europe, but afaik YB and Clydesdale (National Australia Group) are the only ones still issuing.0 -
Maybe you should ask for an upgrade to the Debit MasterCard? Or upgrade to an account with them that offers it?0
