Hi all,I am travelling to this venue in the near future and have been looking at some hotels to stay in over-night,I noticed the Holiday Inn is probably the closest to the venue unfortunatley there would be 5 of us and there is only a max of 4 per room.I seen a travellodge which is situated in North End Rd Fulham and is available now at a very decent price..Has anyone stayed at this travellodge and visited the Apollo (How far is it, can we walk it) or could any one recommend another hotel within close walking distance~(party of 5) many thanks in advance..I KNOW THERE IS A MAX OF 4 PER ROOM IN THE TRAVELLODGE BUT FOR THE PRICE WE WOULD BE PREPARED TO SPLIT UP.

Hammersmith is pretty well served transport wise via four different tube lines and buses, so you have the choice of staying locally or a bit futher out.

It would be about a 30 minute walk from Fulham to Hammersmith. You can use the www.tfl.gov.uk journey planner to see the transport you can get from the TL to the Apollo (just put in postcodes for each). Children aged 10 and under travel free on buses and tubes and you can use Oyster or Travelcard for adult travel.

There is a Premier Inn in Hammersmith which is about a 15 minute walk away.

If you give an idea of the date you require, then it would be easier to give opinions on hotels available for those dates as there are several budget hotels not too far away with direct tube journeys.

Hi Susan i am visiting the Apollo on 9th Sep there would be 5 (3ad, 2kids)in the party,I priced the HolidayInn which i think is the closest to the venue but we would need to book more rooms and the price soars, the closest Travellodge is the one in Fulham (it says 3miles away)and currently the rooms are £24 each so obvisoulsy alot cheaper.

If that's the one near Fulham Broadway I stayed there not long after it opened.

It was fine, it's a Travelodge! Check Trip Advisor for recent reviews!

There was a McD's next door for breakfast & a Subway opposite.

It would be a 30 minute walk from Hammersmith Apollo to the Fulham Travelodge. If you go on googlemaps you can look at the walk. By transport you could get the tube from Fulham Broadway to Earls Court, change onto Piccadilly line to Hammersmith (20 min journey).

You could also look at Ealing Travelodge as it gets good reviews on tripadvisor and it would be a ten minute walk to the tube station in Ealing Broadway and then a 15 minute tube journey to Hammersmith. It is £32 per family room for the night you want. It also has a cafe (which Fulham does not) at which kids eat breakfast for free for each paying adult. We have always found the TL do a good buffet type breakfast of cooked items (scrambled egg, bacon, tomatoes, sausages, beans, mushrooms), cereals, toast, hot drinks, juices, bakery items, yoghurt and fruit.

Susan do kids stay free at travellodge?I am only asking because when i try to book say 1adult 1 child when i get to confirmation page only the adults show up or are you paying for the room and upto 4 can stay in the room? Also if i was to book the Fulham TL roughly what could i expect to pay in taxi dont like the idea of either walking or using tube after the concert which will be late. Thanks

You pay per room with Travelodge and a family room takes up to 2 adults and 2 children or 3 adults. When you click on the rate box you need to click on ammend search at the top and change the preset from 1 adult to change to correct mix for each room. Here is the information on the TFL website re taxi fares. It is about a miles and a half between the hotel and Apollo, fares vary depending on traffic and time of day.

  • If it helps, it's probably a 30 minute walk from TL Fulham, and the main road through there is quite busy and well lit so (and there will be loads of concert go-ers around) so you should be quite safe. There are a number of buses that run up and down that road also, although I suspect it might be better to walk for the cost and hassle. I probably wouldn't recommend a taxi as its (seemingly always) busy around there and it simple won't save time or be cost effective.

There's also a half decent Wetherspoons in Hammersmith (it's fairly big) if you want to feed the troops on the cheap, although I'd avoid the McDs in Hammersmith Broadway as it's usually rammed when something is on at the Apollo.

Either way, leave plenty of time as events there make a busy area very busy.

(MSE Towers is in the vicinity in case you're wondering  )
