Insulin pump insurance?

Hi Everyone,
My son (8) is a Type 1 Diabetic and is due to go onto an insulin pump (worth £3000 ish), next month. I've got to sign a contract stating that the hospital/NHS still owns the pump, but that I will insure it myself. They have advised that insurance costs around £7 a month, and that it may be possible to get it added to home insurance, but it may bring the cost up a little. I don't currently have home insurance, but know that I could get it for around £5 a month (I'm a renter so only need contents), so I'm thinking that I could easily get the pump insured for less than than the £7 quoted.
Does anyone have any experience in purchasing this type of insurance? or getting it added to your existing home insurance?
I don't really know where to start with this as I don't think the usual comparison sites really cater for such things. Any advice or links would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance! :A

You would need it covered outside the home and abroad too if you are intending any foreign trips for the patient.
Also check out the ownership angle - some home insurers may be awkward over insuring an expensive item you don't actually own.
See if the diabetes association has any advice, as this will be a common issue for them.0 -
Thanks guys, you've given me some things to think about, and somewhere to start with all of this0
