    The OP has to prove to the company that the loan was a fraudulent application.

    Also, I don't think that it is up to the OP to report it to the police - the fraud was committed against the loan firm, so the police might not be interested.

    I would start by telling BCW that the debt is in dispute - they have to refer it back to the lender then. The OP can then open communication with the lender, by sending them proof that they didn't live at the address given at the date the loan was taken out. Also ask to see a copy of the Credit Agreement as that might show other inconsistencies (such as the misspelling of the name).

    In the end though, I think he will have to tell the company who the culprit is so that they can correct their records and chase them for the debt.
