Asda, stop changing your products for the worse!!

Shopping today, went to get some of my favourite cake - the 'Extra Special' Chocolate one - costs about £2.50.
Lo and behold, Asda has decided to change this whole range of cakes (the carrot cake was good too) - now they are 'Extra Special & in conjunction with Leith's School of Cookery'.
Pah!
They've taken all the nice chocolate curls off the top, not as much chocolate cream filling or topping by the looks of it, and this weird 'micro-crunchy' powder on the top of the cake with a few measly tiny shards of supposedly posh chocolate in the middle.
Really annoys me when products are changed for no good reason - they've NOT improved these cakes, no matter the guff on the box.
I suspect it's about money-saving - same price but less/cheaper topping for one thing.

And another thing! When I see 'Chosen by You' on an Asda product, I generally don't buy it because very nearly all of these products that I've tried have been RANK. WHO exactly chooses them - people with no taste or taste buds?

All the baloney marketing really gets on my nerves - load of rubbish!

RARRRR!

Yeah, I noticed that as well. To me, it's very stodgy. Could do with some more of that lovely buttercream to offset it.
  • Not very long ago I discovered a "Chicken and Stuffing Bake" ready meal for one in their chiller cabinets... reasonably priced, and absolutely delicious! - like a scaled-down roast chicken dinner and great for taking to work for lunch.

I finished up filling up my freezer with about 8 of them because my husband got a taste for them too. Went to stock up again a couple of weeks ago, and found that all the stuff in the chiller cabinets been replaced with the above mentioned "Leiths school/Chosen by you" bunkum stuff too.... and the Chicken and stuffing bake has been discontinued!! - gutted! WHY do they keep having to "Mess"?!

Ooh that reminds me, they used to do a really nice 'lentil stew' type ready-meal in a pot, in the soup/ready meal section. Really nice tea when I couldn't be bothered but didn't want to eat absolute sh**. Stopped doing that too. Meh.

I found the most amazing fresh soup in sainsbugs, chicken bacon and sweetcorn chowder. I could live off it. On times they sold out so not just me liking it. Now they've discontinued it. WHY???

I rarely shop at asda but did used to like some if their own brand stuff until they all changed to "chosen by you". I don't know who this "you" is but they can't have any taste buds. I haven't found a single thing in the range that I do like since they changed

Yup, don't know who thought Leith's School of Cookery was a good idea (apart from Leith's School of Cookery)

Used to buy a few of the 'Extra Special' meals but IMO they're all sh1te now.

We've started to shop at Morrison's now, as you say since the "Chosen By You" stuff came in quality seems to have declined.

Much prefer the Mr. M's own-brand stuff.

Solution: make your own! So many of the things you are all mentioning above are so much cheaper to make yourself, are so easy to make, and will cost less for a higher-quality product :)
