buffalo linkstation pro nas question can anyone help???

right firstly before anyone starts i know the rules regarding talking about torrent sites which this is not about i have files i wish to share with family and friends.

so here goes was looking at buffalo link station pro
http://www.buffalotech.com/products/network-storage/home-and-small-office/linkstation-pro-1

which uses there own linkstation nas software from what i can make out which uses the words in there bittorrent downloader which also mentions utorrent now this is my question is this a downloading platform only or is it like a full utorrent client with traffic in and out as normal or just really a semi client with you downloading files only you need.
http://www.buffalotech.com/resource-center/nas-system/linkstation-nas-system

as i was after a nas that will run a client rather than leave my main machine on as this runs alot of power all the time but my family are scattered around the world with alot of different time zones but need access to this stuff pretty much all the time between us all. so different files between us all most of the time. time zones are a pain in the bum so far got cousins in Japan,Holland,Australia, Scotland, London and America!

anyway if this doesn't have a full client or just a downloading semi client can anyone recommend one that is please as everyone uses utorrent and trying to retrain my family from afar on new clients would be near on impossible you wouldn't believe how long it took to show them how to use that and some of them wont be back for about 2years just to visit.
also reason for this is i have friends everywhere as well and don't want to set up a million different ftp accounts as well so would need to be torrent based for ease because some of them have troubles with computers at the best of times!

anyway any help appreciated

As you only want to give access to family/friends, any kind of torrent idea is a waste of time.

You would be much better off getting a NAS box that can run an FTP service and assigning access that way.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

why don't you look at cloud solutions. Upload once, share with whomever you want and you own the security of it. No power usage on your own systems and a much faster download speed for anyone you share it with. Have a look at Excipere. Remember, your upload speed is their download speed on a NAS drive.

yes but don't want to go thru hassle of setting up countless ftp accounts in the region of 35 users and assigning file accesses to certain files as would take to long and can not be bothered to keep monitoring it all its easier because of families limitations to use what they know how to use. also alot is private family stuff as well.
so the torrent idea has to stay for that very reason! also all torrents are pass-keyed as well for security reasons.

cloud solutions dont cut it unfortunately just the torrent side of things i transfer in the region of 50gb ish month with everyone that figure doesn't count all my other net usage thats prob about same again but my lines upload is 18mb so thats not a worry really and as the family are all around the different times lines not getting overloaded too much.
regard the power situation shame ssd nas arent about in any decent sizes yet i hear the power consumption on them is alot lower than normal drives.

so i take people here don't know too much about the nas situation in the way i want to use it then or its just a straight no atm?

my guess is a straight no, but could be wrong, it's an unusual requirement.

just set up ftp access, and send them a link and password, you shouldn't need 35 different accounts, just setup a few groups if the access requirements are different.

At a quick glance the link above talks about
    WebAccess Connect
Buffalo's free WebAccess service allows you to create a personal cloud for easy remote access and file sharing with anyone, anywhere over the Internet. Your data remains securely stored in one place on your home network, but you can access it quickly from any computer, tablet or smartphone device over the Web.

I think that means you should be able to access it anywhere ..... have you looked at the full manual

I don't see why the selection of NAS with regard to torrenting is an issue - if you're using uTorrent already, all you need do is hook up the drive, change the default file location in uTorrent, and you're up and running, surely?

Won't make any difference to the other peers - your family - since they connect to you via the torrent tracker.
