Calling all 50 year old men - 50th Gift for a man

Hey all you over 50 fellas out there. What would you like as a 50th gift?
An acquaintence of mine is about to turn 50, I don't know him too well but well enough to buy a gift and there is a "do" involved. What is an appropriate gift?
It must be a nightmare if you are a fella and just receive 30 bottles of whiskey on your birthday whther you drink it or not, how boring!
Ideas would be very much appreciated.:)

Can you cyberstalk him, and look him up on the dreaded FB, etc, to see if you can see any interests and hobbies mentioned?
I knew one who had a collection of trains from childhood and early adulthood, didn't play with them, but retained them. So I got him a limited edition Olympics train set. He was amused and chuffed. (oh dear, that was not an intended pun! Lol)0 -
Just looked and it would seem not

In what context do you know him? Have you noticed anything, e.g. snazzy tie, expensive pen, aftershave, predilection for jammy dodgers at lunch (in which case, get him a GIANT one
), etc. 0 -
I for one would be miffed to receive fifty bottles of whiskey. Fifty bottles of whisky, however, there would be no complaints.0

Personally I would be very pleased with a bottle of Lagavullin from a mere acquaintance (friends could give me a case).0

I'm not keen on whisky or whiskey. My wife bought me a car.0

Where do you know him from, do you know of any interests or hobbies he has, any mutual friends or if you know anyone in his family you could ask?
Sorry but it going to vary depending on the person - do you think that some random person the same age as you would automatically know what kind of gift you would like to receive?

When I asked my husband what he wanted for his 50th birthday, he said an 18 year old nymphomaniac.
He said the same thing on his 60th.
I'm waiting until he's 70, then I'll cash in the life assurance!
