Parking Eye - Scotland

Was down in England with my car and met up with a business colleague and we both parked in the same place and he got a letter from Parking Eye asking him to pay an £85 fine for staying beyond the allotted time.
I live in Scotland - can I safely ignore if I too get the same letter.
I know legislation has changed but just want to double check
Thanks!

Since the incident happened in England, it's covered by English law, and so POFA would apply. They could still pursue you through the English courts, if they liked. Advice is to appeal, as it's the ignorers who we have seen receiving court papers.0

Would be interesting if a MCOL was raised and the OP chose to have the hearing in Scotland? Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I would surmise that would not be possible - would have to choose the nearest English court, e.g. Berwick or Carlisle. That's a pure guess, though. The same would apply to, say, a French resident/citizen. A true foreigner could easily ignore any court proceedings in England, as long as they didn't need to do business here (and it would be highly unlikely proceedings would even be started in that case). For a Scot, less so, as a default judgement against would still lead to a potential CCJ which would show up on a UK credit check.Would be interesting if a MCOL was raised and the OP chose to have the hearing in Scotland?0
