I am thank you :ALightattheend wrote: »Hi Folks, I know it's a long time since I popped in - hope you're all well
Could I ask a question - can you point me in the right direction to ask a question/find some help? My 18 year old son had his card stolen and in the four and a half hours between last seeing it and realising it was missing someone managed to get a Wonga loan paid onto it (£328) and withdraw £320! He didn't have his PIN with the card but he figures that as he has an unusual name (spelling at least) they managed to find him on Facebook etc and work out enough details to impersonate him. He phoned Halifax as soon as he knew the card was gone and they cancelled it but then made him phone Wonga. Wonga told him to phone Action Fraud, which he did. Both the Halifax and Wonga are not being helpful and the Action Fraud people say the Halifax should be sorting it. Wonga are now saying my son (who doesn't earn any money at all) is liable for the loan! I really need some advise but can't work out where to post the question or look on here - sorry to go on and bring this up here but I was at a loss were to start
Thanks
LATE

Thanks If, going to go into branch with my son on Saturday and see what happens - he can do the talking but I am there as the 'muscle' if he needs it or I feel he is being fobbed off (which I can see them trying as he is a young 18).BR 08/06/09 ED 10/03/10BSC member 2500

I think that is wise and Halifax definately needs to do more for your son "If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride"

Oh yes, had plenty of dealings with the Halifax - they were one of the worst with taking things off my credit file after bankruptcy! :mad:BR 08/06/09 ED 10/03/10BSC member 2500

Hello LATE
Nice to see you, but I'm really sorry about the problems your son is having.
Agree it would be good to go to the Halifax tomorrow, they definitely need to be helping to sort this out. You could also try posting on the DFW (debtfree wannabe) board and the loans board. There are some really helpful and knowledgeable people on both boards, though the DFWs tend to be more "cuddly", if you know what I mean, you may get a few "more direct" replies from the loans peeps, while still being helpful - just to warn you.
Good luck, I really hope you get this sorted out, it must be a nighmare for your sonThe time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

nws LATE, hope you get everything sorted.
I've just spotted this thread on DFW. It's an old one that someone's resurrected but there are some links that, if still working, might help.
