rant time...this time, at M&S....or their food department!
Yes, the old Electron visa card issue rears its ugly head again...one would have thought, after all this time, someone with a large retail store chain would have got it right?
Right, my backside!
On a one-off casual visit to a M&S food section in a local, touristy city not far from me.....I bought one or two choice, but..in comparison, quite expensive [certainly compared to local farm shops, at any rate]....items of food.
Got to the self yourself checkouts, scanned, and tried to pay using my trusty Co-op Visa Debit card [NOT an electron, BTW]....
Wouldn't accept it..the damned machine kept calling it an electron..which it isn't.
Now, I have no problems whatsoever with it in Tesco or any other half decent retail store....and quite often pay-at-the-pump for fuel with it.
The customer assistant shot over, declared it an electron card, which I disputed....even had the gall to say it was my 'bank's fault'!
I promptly accused M&S's systems to be out of date....and needed a serious upgrade! Demanded to know why no other retailer still has these 'issues'....?
Still got a load of corporate waffle, so..I announced I was considering two courses of action.
[1] was to sign the little bit of paper and have done with it, or
[2] having scanned all my [small amount] of shopping, to tell M&S where they could put themselves, and leave it all at the checkout, whilst I would stomp out of the store.....loudly!
Given the choices I announced, the assistant went a bit pale....so I signed, but told her in no uncertain terms I could see why M&S were essentially a failing store! And, I won't bother going back there again [over-priced, over-stated, better can be found in a local farmer's market!]
Maybe M&S' core targets aren't Co-op bank users?
Certainly I view their adverts as an unnecessary interruption to even the most banal TV shows! No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
That's not just a rant,
That's an M&S Visa Electron rant.
