Dodgy transaction known about but allowed by bank

Think this is in the right place, could be wrong though...
At about 9.30 on Tuesday morning bank called to say they thought there had been an attempt by someone to use my card details for an internet transaction for over £1600, followed soon after by another for just under a grand. these were stopped, and that card blocked. less than 2 hours later I got another call, same thing happening on my other account. Assured them it was not me, transaction and card stopped.
Wasn't until after I'd got off the phone that the penny dropped that the calls had been about different cards, I'm not to sharp at the moment....Went online to check that my credit cards had not been assaulted.
Went into town on Wednesday and went into a branch to check that it was both cards. they confirmed this and said all transactions had also been stoped.
Used IB to activate my new cards today, only to find that a transaction of nearly a grand had been allowed on the 17th(Wed) to the company that had had the transactions stopped previously.
NOT A HAPPY CAMPER!!
On calling them on the number on thier site I was told call back after 8am, so much for call immediately eh..
When i did the woman in the UK was great, then she transferred me to the fraud dept. Hell I was made to feel like a CRIM.
I do not have my PIN wrote anywhere, no I don't go around giving my details to anyone, no my cards haven't gone AWOL, although I must admit I do not walk around with them in my hand held at eye level, which is basically what she made me feel like I ought to be doing.
Why do i automatically get the blame? We are talking about 2 cards from 2 different accounts. I use IB, PayPal and Verified by Visa sites. If im just browsing and a pop up appears I shoot it down, I do not, as implied, enter my personal and banking info into things willy nilly. Hell I get an e mail from the bank to say my credit card statement is ready, I dont even open it, I finish with my emails, log out, shut down do something else and maybe 30 mins later, more likely a day or 2 I sign in and make the payment. Hells bells i rarely use email links for and thing that could be financial.
And if i get so much as a penny change for this, I would if I were you avoid Bolton town centre that day lolol
Right this was partly rant, partly wondering if HSBC have cocked up somewhere but don't want to admit it, either way I have done now

If a transaction was attempted on Tuesday this is what will show on your account on Wednesday. No-one has cocked up, they spotted the transactions, stopped the card, you aren't liable. Standard questions are asked when this happens, is your PIN written down, have you given your details to anyone, do you still have your cards etc. No-one is blaming you, you aren't liable, no charges will be due.
Bit of an overreaction really.0 -
It isn't totally clear from your post but I'm assuming that it's been debit card payments.
The fraudsters seem to have your card details and possibly your 'Verified by Visa' details. They would have got these directly or via some kind of keylogger/trojan on your computer. Determining the source would help you sort things out.
HSBC will simply chargeback the transaction and should refund you before that even happens.Buddyhollic wrote: »Think this is in the right place, could be wrong though...

Hi
Just to say when my account was hacked the transaction was stopped but 2 days later still showed up on my account as gone out I waited and another 2 days later it showed as credited back again.
If the bank stopped it you ll get it back dont panic and the bank have to give anti fraud advice after account fraud they read it from a screen the lady told me its standard advice and questions about things you might have accidentally done to help fraudsters some people really dont realise
Hope you get sorted soon0 -

You will have missunderstood the rep.
While you may confirm a transaction as not yours. if it has already been authorised.
It will still debit.... They cannot be stopped once authorised.Buddyhollic wrote: »We are talking about 2 cards from 2 different accounts. I use IB, PayPal and Verified by Visa sites.
PayPal acc's get compromised all the time.
VbV is a retailer, not bank related system.
You fail to mention you use your card in bricks and mortor retailer....
Most likely point of compromise. As their till rolls have you FULL card details on them.Buddyhollic wrote: »Right this was partly rant, partly wondering if HSBC have cocked up somewhere but don't want to admit it, either way I have done now
