MP3 player through Ford focus stereo?

Morning All,
I'm currently listening to MP3s and audiobooks through the FM transmitter built into my SatNav but the quality is pretty poor and the signal keeps getting weak.
I'm looking at potentially getting a new stereo with an MP3 / SD card input but am thinking that as the stereo I currently have (the factory fitted one on an '07 Ford Focus) has an Aux setting I must somehow be able to connect an MP3 player in somehow?
All ideas are gratefully received!

I had a 07 focus and did have an mp3 fitted as the stereo. The aux point is in the glove box! But you can connect your mp3 player to this0

Excellent, thanks. I can see what looks like an input socket at the back of the glovebox, is this the one?0 -
Possibly. Some have it where the glove box closes!0

Oh, should add that it may be better to get a new stereo fitted and play through its format. But try this approach of connecting your mp3 first to see what you think. I wasn't impressed but that may be due to a poor mp30

As others have said, the connector is in the glove box. Providing the output from your MP3 player is of sufficient quality then it should sound fine.
Only problem I have is if the player is connected up to the aux in and to the cigarette lighter for charging, you get a lot of noise on the line, and will need to get an audio cable with a ground loop isolator to fix this.
This is in a 2010 Mondeo, but I suspect the Focus won't be much different.0 -
I did this on my previous car, an 05 focus. Lots of info and videos on youtube and from a Google search. Basically you take out your glove box and reach in up to where the main beam (bulkhead?) runs across, reach behind this and you will find a lot of wires taped up. On one of these will be a connector. Then buy a connector from ford, was about 3 quid when i got it, Google should get you part number. Then you drill a round hole in your glove box front and fit connector from wire to newly bought connector. I believe you need to take radio out and fit connector at back of radio, a set of keys as they are called should be a quid or two on Ebay. Job done for a fiver whilst ford quoted me £300 ...any queries let me know.0

The main thing is, if you have a radio CD unit with an AUX button you will be fine as the unit has the audio input functionality. If the wiring is not in place you can easily DIY, not difficult. See youtube or on the internet.
Some of the units in the MK2 Focus have a CDDJ button instead though and with those ones you are stuck.0
