Alternatives to floorboards

Hi,

Ive just moved into my new house & there is a bad woodworm infestation. All of the ground floor floorboards need replacing. Im planning on getting the place treated & replacing all the floorboards. Are there any suitable alternatives to conventional floorboards that might be cheaper & easier to lay. Also is it possible to buy the wood treated against the insects.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You can get T and G flooring grade chipboard but I wouldn't recommend it.

I have used 18mm sterling board or OSB for floors, but I got mine for £3.50 a sheet (8x4). The only poviso is that all the edges need to be supported with joists or noggins.

This would mean putting in rows of noggins to suit and cutting the board width/length to accomodate the spacings of the joists.

I would suggest going with full replacement floor joists. Shop around, as I have found new T and G 20mm tannelised for very reasonable money.
