Hi Board Experts,
Need your help.
Just come home and noticed that my NTL 250 BB modem was sending and receiving data and no-one was using the computer - The computer was not even on?
Any explanations?
Thanks in advance.

Most likely just network traffic from your ISP. Big brother trying to watch you!I haven't been asked to tell you that I'm the Board Drunk for this board. As the night wears on, my posts will become worse, with simple spelling mistakes, inane ramblings, and a blatant disregard for the truth. I have no authority to do anything, so there's no point asking or telling me. If you see me past midnight, please tell me to get my coat and order me a taxi.

Thank for your post.
So what does that actually mean?
if my computer is off then how can it send and receive data?

yup, a BB modem doesnt need the p.c to be turned on the communicate. Telewest cable modems constantly light up 'busy' even when there not!0

ive recently had ntl 1meg broadband installed (same model modem) and mine does exactly the same. hovever i have a 3gb limit per month, can anyone tell me how much this constant sending and receiving (when the comp is off) uses up?0

Wouldnt bother about it.
Install http://www.analogx.com/files/nsli.exe if your bothered.
The sending and recieving is most likely just a hand-shake between you and your ISP to make sure you are still connected to the network ok.0 -
