O/S Daily Friday 19th April

O/S Daily Friday 19th April 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Fish fed, DW on, packups made.
Here's hoping for a quieter day today with less blood & less fighting, it still looks windy out & kids are like cats, they go loopy in the wind.

tonight I'm taking down my rotary line & taking the line off it, my last 2 rotaries, the stem has snapped in the same place, so I'm changing to a straight line for a while.

    Have a good day everybody
    Hugs Hester

Menu plan for next week is done and shopping list compiled - going shopping straight from work tonight. Might pop to the butchers in my lunch break to stock up on meat too.

Tea tonight will be burger & chips for OH & I'll see what I fancy when I get in as it will be late.

Lovely and sunny here today - wind seems to have died down. Off to have some scrambled eggs for breakfast.

Have a great day all! :)

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Raining, dull and dreich - looks set in for the day but the forecast says it should dry up later - we'll see.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, beans etc for the menfolk, I had a mushroom omlette and salad - all eaten and enjoyed. Menfolk had sponge for dessert. Tonight will be breaded chicken pieces, HM ham and mushroom pizza with salad and chips for the menfolk I will have jacket potato with tuna mayo and salad.

Have all the normal chores to do today - so will crack on with getting them done, but was productive yesterday got the housework done, ironing done and sorted a drawer from the filing cabinet - the door had become loose and come off so DH had mended it but all the contents needed sorting - so shredded loads of old papers and everything now back in the drawer. Also had a bit of a tidy up in the porch - certainly not looking how I want it to look but better!

Went to hairdressers and her co-worker hasn't gone back, and the hairdresser asked me if I had been to see the co-worker and I said I hadn't (I haven't seen or spoken to her but did get her number through a friend and know that this will have got back to the hairdresser this is why she asked!) I wasn't sure how I was going to bring the subject up but as she did and asked if I'd seen her, I jumped straight in after I'd said I hadn't seen her co-worker with "actually I feel really stuck in the middle", she straight away said that I shouldn't feel like that. She was very chatty and gushing - not at all how she normally is, so it seems like she's trying to win over her customers - I only went as this was pre-booked and wanted to see how the land lies as it were, she was overbooked and I was in there ages, I like to be in and out as I always go on my days off and so always have loads to do. When she asked me if I wanted to re-book for next time, I took the opportunity of saying that I would contact her as I feel stuck in the middle and I'm not sure what I'm going to do - which is the truth, I'm just not sure what to do at the moment. I would prefer to go and have hair done and then straight on to have my nails done in the same place - thats why I like going to that salon. This obviously can't now happen but the co-worker has got herself set up again and I think if I asked her she would do my hair and then nails straight after at a time to suit me, when she was at the hairdressers the owner said she could do nails in the week but had to do them in her lunch time which meant hair done at 11.30am and then nails 12-1pm - completely messing up the day. Thinking she may need the business so I can suggest first thing in the morning and be done by mid-morning - that's what I'm hoping anyway!

    Better crack on.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

Didn't sleep great myself Halight, my knees ached all night. I think it's probably that I was sat in the car a long time yesterday and it really doesn't help.
Very pleased I managed to get my blanket done though. I posted a pic on yesterday's daily if your interested.
Things are pretty tough at the moment as dh has very little work, hoping it improves next week.
I will be glad when I've had my operation and I'm a bit more mobile but shall really push my business from home in the mean time.
Anyway today need to do a food shop from Mr A.
I've never used turkey thighs halight are they ok, what do you do with them.
Need a shower and some breakfast first, once I've caught up with all my threads:D
DS and gf are cooking tea tonight and bringing a bottle of wine so that should be nice. I think youngest DS is off to another party, oh to be young and carefree.
Never mind onwards and upwards, have a good day all x

Turkey Thighs are A cheep curt of turkey.
They have plenty of meat on them. But they do come with a bone In them.

We tend to roast them, But toy can cook them anyway you you like. You could strip the meat off them,

The ones that I buy. Are two for £5 and they are quite large. So they are good value for money .

    Morning Halight and all,

I too pinched your sleep last night Halight. i went to bed around midnight and slept right through till 7.

Sunshine, so much of it streaming through the windows I love it! Ive opened all the windows and am giving the house another good airing.

Will be going shopping later on tonight as hubby will be out all tomorrow picking up his new toy which is about 200 miles away. He is going to be absolutely shattered on Sunday. Still, that will be another heap of junk to sit in the shed for 4 years until he gets sick of having no space in the shed for anything else then he'll sell it at a loss. I know my husband down to the ground!

Son passed another City and Guilds exam yesterday but he still wants to switch courses in September and do something completely different.:(

Jobs for today posted as usual to encourage me to get them ticked off in the least amount of time.

[STRIKE]Tea will be fish pie. Ive got some prawns in the freezer i want to use up but
i'm going to do a crumble topping instead of mashed potato.[/STRIKE]

Incidently, although last nights gammon looked pretty inedible, it didnt taste too bad once i cut the black bits off.:rotfl:

    Have a good day all,
