Unable to Pay (NPB case)

Won an auction item 4 days ago, and had genuine computer problems so couldn't log on to ebay to pay right away.

Had a NPB opened against me yesterday (fair enough) and sent payment via paypal.

Noticed today that the seller had refunded the payment last night, with no explanation, and I still have the NPB case open against me.

I have tried paying again via paypal, but it won't allow me to because "the item may no longer available or listing may have expired."

Just wondered does anyone have any experience of this?
Thanks in advance.

    Sounds like a glitch.

You sure case is still open. They sometimes take a while to clear from screen.

If so - see if you can close it yourself.

You defo shudn't have a NPB if you paid - unless it went to a different email address.

As it didn't close automatically phone ebay and get them to cancel the dispute - do it quickly you don't want a strike. Once a buyer can show that they have paid a strike should not be recorded against them.

Do strikes matter like they used to?

Actually this is an interesting question.

I set my preferences to block those with two strikes or more. I had a buyer contact me to say he can't bid on my item because of his two strikes. He gave a very reasonable excuse why he had those strikes, so I checked his feedback.

It seems he was happily purchasing, and quickly paying for, up to a dozen items a day, all from different sellers.

So it would appear from this, that the majority of sellers do not block anyone with NPB strikes.
  • Well, called ebay (groan!) who said that I should try and make payment.

Explained that I have paid, and the seller refunded me. And that I am unable to pay again because "item is not available" (am 99.999% sure the seller has relisted the item a day or 2 ago, hence why they refunded me).

They said only the seller can close a NPB case, so I may get a strike but ebay will 'probably' remove it.

Won't be the end of the world I guess (would be my first NPB) but presumably I will be unable to leave any feedback though?
Or do a non performing seller case?

Frankly I don't think do unless a seller blocks repeat offendors- otherwise my 4000+ feedback buyer would probably have paid to avoid one instead of letting me close the case on him- blasted time waster.

Phone again, make sure you keep phoning until you get Dublin and insist they close the dispute as the system should have done it automatically.

Bear in mind that you don't know how often this bidder is blocked - it may be that they have to try bidding 2 or 3 / 20 or 30 times before they find a seller who does not block those with 2 strikes.

As he had an excuse for non-payment ready, it's undoubtedly not the first time (or the last) that he's resorted to it, to try to convince a seller to allow him to bid.

I routinely block any buyer with 2 or more NPBs, which is triggered every so often. I'm sure it pays any seller to have it in place.
