Hello,
Could one of you bright sparks please tell me how to prevent the same emails coming through on Windows Mail on both my laptop and desktop? Using Windows 7 at the moment. I'm getting tired of constantly deleting duplicate emails. Oh, by the way, you will need to explain in words of one syllable as I'm a bit of a numpty with this stuff!
thanks.

You need to set your email up to use the IMAP protocol. Best to find instructions specific to your mail provider. Who is your provider? (the bit after the @)If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0

Just to add to grumpycrab's post above. the reason you're seeing duplication is most likely because you're only ever deleting items from what is essentially a view of your online mailbox.
You need to understand how you're accessing your mailbox as in a pop3 mail or imap (as mentioned above). It's not as easy as just logging on editing mail etc and hoping that it will replicate across multiple devices. Unless you really set it up from the outset all you're ever editing or messing with is the "view of the mailbox".
I know it's not much help but if you can put a bit more meat on the bone regarding your set up then I'm sure there'll be a lot more info forthcoming.
hope this helps0 -
OP,
If windows mail is similar to windows live mail which I think it is do the following.
Open windows mail.
Click on Tools, then Accounts, then highlight your account, then click properties, then advanced.
Then you should see a box to click if you want emails to be left on the server after downloading, make sure that is not checked.
PS I am assuming you are downloading via POP.0 -

Hi, thanks for your advice. I have followed the instructions and it appears to have done the trick! Brilliant!
It was indeed Windows Live Mail by the way.
Many thanks to you and everyone else for trying to help.
Cheers.:TTact: getting your point across without stabbing someone0
