Little tip for the month free subscpiptions

I called Sky to reduce my TV down to the basic package and the operator said that I can take advantage of a free movies subscription for a month. She also said that if I want to take advantage of any other month free packages that come up time to time but don't want to pay after than when I call up to subscribe for them, cancel at the same time as they need a months notice and will start to charge from the day the freebie runs out. I didn't know that. Thought that I would post it incase any other people didn't.

Sorry if this is ridiculously obvious.

The Sky Movies Offer (which ends today) doesn't require a month's notice (or 31 days per standard terms & conditions).

    The offer terms state:
....After one month you will continue to receive Sky Movies at £8-16pm depending on your package unless you cancel in the first 28 days of trial period. ...."

Some customers appear to have hesitated about the offer, whilst staff contradicted the offer's terms- for example, see http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Rewards-Incentives-Vouchers/free-1-month-movies-trial/m-p/985302/highlight/true#M14147 .

What would be the logic in running a sales promotion that told customers that they needed to cancel a trial immediately to avoid paying for the following month- and before the customer had any time to trial it?

Ah, must have missed exactly what operator was saying. But it was something to do with ordering then canceling at the same time do avoid further charges. She said that (for whatever it was) you would get the extra programs for the month and when that was up it would stop.

In the examples I've seen, the problem has not been the customer misunderstanding what was said, but staff at Sky trying to apply the standard tv terms & conditions (31 days notice), rather than the terms of the offer. :)
