No all I was pointing out was that the trade counters will refund you the purchase price of the ladder but for any compensation/installation costs you will need to deal with head office .

If you need to phone Screwfix and you haven't got free calls to 0845 numbers on your landline package, note that http://www.saynoto0870.com/search.php lists plenty of geographic rate 01 and 02 numbers and a few 0500 and 0800 freefone numbers that you can use instead.

or you could call the main screwfix number 0500 414141

Hi there,
I have the same ladder & was sent a letter through the post.

I have emailed them also - at very least would expect them to provide replacement & fitting costs.

Will let you know what response is

I got a letter about the recall of the loft ladders. I fitted 2. I emailed head office: [EMAIL="angela.lambden@screwfix.com"]angela.lambden@screwfix.com[/EMAIL] with an invoice for the work to remove and reinstall, I think that you have to be VAT registered, so it says in me email to get a refund.
although I only received £125 for each ladder, I have to sign a disclaimer which they sent me but at least I have some refund. I did get some replacement ladders which are better quality. it only took about 7 day via email to get a reply and new ladders, theyre coming to pick up the old ones, so its not costing me to take them back, every bit helps...
