Plans for former Maze prison site get go-ahead
not really moneysaving but moneywasting!!
designed by world renowned architect Daniel Libeskind
Could no one in NI have designed this? Could McAdam Design not have taken on the whole project???
Don't get me started on the City Hall.....(Lighting not flegs

I feel sorry for the people who live in that area. I mean let's face it, it's lovely and quiet at the moment. There's going to be mass construction traffic, widening of roads and such an increase in traffic.
Another countryside idyll destroyed.
I think you are giving them too much credit. There'll obviously be an increase in traffic but I can't see much work going into improving infrastructure in the surrounding area. Take a look at Belfast International Airport - the road network leading to the airport is nothing short of a joke but there's no interest in upgrading it.0 -

We'll have to wait and see then.

There are plans for a link road between Sprucefield, where the park and ride is, and the bottom of the Knockmore Rd in Lisburn. Planning Service have zoned the surrounding land for a business/industrial park, and this is supposed to include 'moving' the Knockmore rail stop (closed a few years ago) to this business park. So that's a rail stop a bit closer to the Maze, if private money ever builds any of this infrastructure.0

So, as things stand at the moment, the Balmoral Show is due to start there within 2 weeks and nobody will have a hope of getting there unless they are fortunate enough to have access to a car.:( And those who do have a car will be stuck for hours in traffic jams on the small country roads once they leave the M1. This country is pathetic.0

I rang the RUAS a week or so ago to ask if there would be any special coaches or anything running from Belfast and was told that there wouldn't be. But they suggested getting the train to Lisburn, and there will be a free shuttle bus to the showgrounds from Lisburn train station on a very regular basis. So, as things stand at the moment, the Balmoral Show is due to start there within 2 weeks and nobody will have a hope of getting there unless they are fortunate enough to have access to a car.:( And those who do have a car will be stuck for hours in traffic jams on the small country roads once they leave the M1. That's just a wee bit harsh is it not? Is this country responsible for the running of the Balmoral Show now? This country is pathetic.0 -

I don't like the sound of this - how regular is regular?
Then when you want to leave, how long a wait for a bus back to Lisburn - traffic hold ups etc?
This move shouldn't have happened until proper infrastructure was in place. We will be giving it a miss this year for sure. It was so easy before, train to Balmoral - cross the road and you were there, same on return. Let's see how this year pans out.

Just found the answer to my own question

Quote "Due to anticipated heavy congestion around the site, passengers are advised to allow at least one hour transfer time for returning from the show"
I don't think so!0
