Car Insurance Renewal Looming

My car insurance is due for renewal in approx 1 week. Just shopping around for quotes at this moment via internet etc.
Just wondered if it was cheaper to buy on quotes received today or wait until day before current insurance runs out?
Whats your experience? Any advice much appreciated.

Insurers can change their prices at any time. Most insurers guarantee their quotes for 30 days or more and so in theory you could quote today, wait, see how the price moves and then use one or the other quote however you need to be careful (esp if using aggregators) that (a) by getting a new quote it doesnt over write the old one rather than sitting along side it and (b) you dont hit any counter fraud/ rate raiding measures by getting multiple quotes

I tend to find the more quotes i do the higher the prices.

If your checking the same company for a quote their system must assume your going to choose them and it adds a couple of £ to the price.
