Apprentice schemes

Hi all, never posted in this part of the forum before - so hello:T:T

Just really looking for some info and thought some of you knowledgeable folks may be able to help/share experiences about employing young people on apprenticeships?

Its something i have been considering, just looking for clarification on is there any funding/assistance available to SME's for employing apprentices. ie help towards their wages?

I'm not wanting 'something for nothing' but if it is a route we go down I want to be able to dedicate x amount of hours of my time into training and hand holding any young person. Therefore , I would look to increase the hours of one of our p/t staff to take over some of my duties whilst i concentrate some energy on the trainee, obviously this means extra money to pay the employee who would take over some of my duties and then we have costs of the apprentice.

Any one any experience/suggestions?

I have phoned a few organisations but the answers were quite wooly to say the least.

TIA
Anna
