Hotels/Train Stations near Battersea Power Station London

Hello

We are booked in to do a London half marathon walk in September for cancer research, the start and finish points are Battersea Park Power Station.

We are travelling down to London by train from Chester.

My initial thought was to book into a hotel near Euston as that's where the train arrives. Then to get the tube to Battersea later on in the evening - the walk starts around 9pm.

Having considered the logistics though, would we be better getting a hotel in Battersea itself and then we can make our way to the start line in the evening and then we can drag ourselves back into the hotel when we finish, early hours of the morning?

That's why we are thinking twice about getting a hotel in Central London, as we will have to find public transport back to our hotel and assume the tube wouldn't be running in the early hours?

Bearing in mind, we also want to spend the next day (Sunday) in London itself, sightseeing, what do you think the best options are?

What would the nearest Travel Lodge or similar accommodation be for us and if we arrive in Euston, what tube station do we need to travel to for the Battersea Power Station?

Thanks - any ideas would be great.

Clapham Junction is nearest , Train from Victoria or Tube (which are much further away)

No tube stations near Battersea Power Station (Yet).
  • Vauxhall (where there is another new Travelodge) isn't too far nor is Sloane Square if tube is critical - I'd rather stay at Clapham Junction for better supper options

Others have made hotel related suggestions but the stations nearest the power station are Battersea Park (very close with trains from Victoria) or Queenstown Rd (from Waterloo).
You can get buses from Sloane Sq or Vauxhall tubes.

You could look at nightbus routes and get a hotel. The N44 takes over from the 44 bus that is stated on the Power station website. Buses seem to run every 20 minutes. Timetable here:

Vauxhall Travelodge which will be a new Travelodge may be a good choice as it is on the N44 bus route if you go to the www.tfl.gov.uk journey planner and put in the powrstation postcode of sw8 5bp and the sw8 1sj TL postcode (change date until tomorrow and 2am) it shows a journey time of 10 minutes on the n44 or 17 minutes walk. It would be handy as beside Vauxhall station from which you can go direct on the Victoria line to Euston (10 min journey). On the way you can get the no 44 bus.
