Last minute holiday over new year? anyone tried it?

I may well be being completely stupid because with holiday prices as high as they ever get over new year i doubt it's a bargainous time to travel but has anyone ever waiting until 27/28/29 Dec and booked something long haul for new years eve?

Is it possible?

Are there any bargains?

Would you do it again?

Cheers!!

are you wanting to go somewhere FOR new years eve or looking for a cheap deal ON new years eve (because nobody will want to fly then) ????

My mate flew to Aus once leaving late on Christmas Day, he got it less than half price because no bu**er else wanted to go ...... He was chuffed to bits though having very little family

I did it one year although admittedly only to Spain! Ended up biting the bullet and paying asking price because we really wanted to go. Flew out 28th and came back on 1st and plane was half empty both ways. I hung on until the day before flying but no sign of a reduction in the prices!

    Hi
it happened to me last year. I found a good deal in the Alps just the week before Christmas for the week between the 26th Dec. and 2nd January. I was very lucky and enjoyed the week very much, but I won't recommend to wait until the last minute if you have family or can take holidays only in certain periods of the year.

I have no family to take with me, just myself and my girlfriend. We thought we'd book some time off and just tak what's going but I guess when it gets to the time we'll end up going anywhere/any price simply because we're expecting to go away.

Maybe i need a better idea!

You'll get a bargain going east late in the day on New Year's Eve.

Go for it. We booked about the 14th December for flying out Xmas Eve for 2 weeks to Florida. We got £700.00 for flights, hotel, car hire for the 2 weeks. Admittedly not direct flights but excellent value.

If you're not choosy where you go leave it and book lastminute styleee.
