How do these people manage to stay in business
It's not a company I've ever liked to deal with, mainly because of their aggressive selling techniques concerning mortgages & insurance, plus trying to get you to view houses you're not really interested in.
But having sold my house & needing to register with all ea's in the area in my search for a new home I decided I'd have to include them. I called into the local branch this morning & was told by the only person in the office that I couldn't register as there was nobody there right now who could do this for me
I don't know what she got paid for, but obviously not for sitting there filling out a registration form.
She reluctantly dug out a couple of property details when I asked her if she could at least give me some blurb on properties on their books. About 4.30pm this afternoon I rang to see if I could make an arrangement to view one of the properties & was told they'd dig out the details & get back to me in a few mins & took my number.
No prizes for guessing that nobody has rung me back. I guess if filling out a registration form is too much trouble, then selling a whole house is far & away too much bother. What a shambles of an outfit.
I'm so pleased I chose a proper ea's to sell my house through.

The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I had to deal with another part of the group last year.
They had a very pleasant sounding lady who would always know who you were, ask how you were etc. and when I would ask her her to do something would always say 'yes' of course'. She did absolutely nothing. Not one thing. Really. And quite frankly, the bloke at the top of the chain was such a fruitcake that every time she screwed up, he would delay exchange out of spite.
She got such a dressing down from me when I finally had enough and reeled off a really long list of what she had failed to do, that I made her cry.
Then I still had to go via another branch to the area manager to actually force the agreement that the manager had made with me with no intention of carrying through, she just bluffed thinking I would cave when she disappeared on exchange day.
I don't think they were expecting the wrath of Doozergirl, but my, they got it and I got my way!Don't cross the Doozer!
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

mr brother had loads of problems with them!!!! he was buying a house through them, the that fell through and they fed him a pack of lies that he still had to take out the mortgage through them as he had applied through them. he found anotehr house through another agent, but they continued to harrass him and my brother is painfully shy, hasnt got a great telephone manner and hates things like this. but he still wouldnt let me have a go at them as he was worried about upsetting them.
i think someone else here has said it if they could only flog you the mortgage, insurance and solicitor service then they wouldnt bother with the selling houses bit at all!!!! they have a very high turnover of staff as well, abnormally high for an EA i think0 -
Mann & Countrywide caused me no end of stress also.
They NEVER rang me back or kept me informed of anything. - Even when a buyer pulled out (& I was waiting on the end of the phone worrying about the situation) they couldn't be bothered to call me straight away and let me know.
When I accepted an offer from my first buyer (first time i'd ever sold a house) I was obviously a little apprehensive of the what the next steps and procedures were, - but all the branch manager *PUSHED* me to do was sign a LEGAL document stating that I would use Mann & Co solicitors, - she told me "even though you've got your own solicitor if you just change the last number of your phone number they wont contact you and I'll get "brownie points"".
So there's me worrying about selling the biggest asset i've ever owned, and the branch manager's trying to get me to sign a legal document I have no intention of complying with.
The rest of the staff were just as incompetent / unprofessional as her.
One viewing a young girl came around with a buyer and said "i've never been here before so do you want to show him around?". Sorry, - !!!!!! am I paying you for again?
WARNING:
**DO NOT USE MANN & COUNTRYWIDE ESTATE AGENTS **

Yes, - this seems to tally with my experience.
I found all staff to be VERY AGGRESSIVE, TW0-FACED LIERS, & completely incompetent at getting anything (even the smallest things like spelling people's names or address correctly.
Nasty people, to be avoided at all costs   :mad:0 -
the reason why the girl in the office wouldnt have taken your details is that she is only a phione answerer (im guessing) and that a EA would take you on as an applicant and if they sell you something that specific EA gets the commission.
many agents do do this, I know we did at the EA where i worked, however, the saturday girl would then forward the details of the applicant usually to her favourite member of staff- and that was me:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
It doesn't get any better, I phoned them again this morning & was told the reason she hadn't phoned me back was because she hadn't written down my phone number properly.
I asked about viewing the house I was interested in & she mentioned another I might like to see & said she'd try to contact both vendor's & call me back.
She did call back this time, with an arrangement for me to view just one of the houses this morning. Trouble was she got mixed up with the 2 road names, so I ended up going to the completely wrong house & had to phone them on my mobile to find out exactly which house/number/road it was I was supposed to be viewing. :rolleyes:The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

That's both unbelievable AND typical.
Dealing with EAs puts me off buying & selling a house altogether, - which, considering the seriousness of buying & selling houses, is ridiculous.
Moving/selling/buying is stressful enough, without having the added stress most EAs cause on top
Keep smiling cattie0 -
I'd echo everything i've read on here.
Truly awful.0 -
I would also add that if you ever consider using them to sell your house - just look at their adverts on say Rightmove compared to the competition! Usually just the briefest of descriptions, a couple of photos and a map link. Many other agents have many more pics, a floorplan and a link to a "Brochure" which provides more info - rooms sizes etc etc.0
