in Credit cards
I have a credit card which is delinquent - date of 2009.
What can i do to have this removed from my credit report asap?
Is it true that it will be on report till 2015 if i were to pay it off in full now or not?
To be honest i didnt even know i had this until I went on experian credit report to find out why i could not get a mortgage. No lender will touch me whilst i have this.
My credit score is 960 but obviously the history if the delinquent/defaulted card scares lenders off.
Please help!!! Thank you.

Is a default actually recorded? i.e. default date=xx/xx/2009? And/or a status D recorded?
If defaulted, then that will stay on your report until 2015, even if you pay it off now.
If there is no actual default then the account will remain on your report for 6 years from the date you now settle it.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

The default date is logged as 30.09.2009. With the amount still out standing.
The status is default and the status codes are 8's as nothing has been paid off - I didn't know this existed till a few weeks ago.
Just want to get rid of this record asap.0 -
If the default is valid, then it will stay until 2005.
Do you have reasons to dispute the default?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

You can't just get rid of the record. If the card was yours and you defaulted the entry will stay on your file for 6 years (5 in Scotland).0

No, I cannot dispute it. I tool the credit card out however this was because I did not have a credit history so my partner used it and paid it off ongoing. We however parted ways a couple years later and due to never using it I totally forgot it even existed and he stopped paying it.
So although the purchases are his the card is in my name alone.

Settling a default won't affect how long it stays on your credit report for - this will still be six years from the default date. But it should help your creditworthiness in the meantime as satisfied defaults look much better than outstanding ones.

I have a question i defaulted in 07 but in 11 I paid of my payments to a satisfied status it still shows up default. Will the default go away six years after the default date or the satisfied date?0

It should be the default date ie this year, but you will find it takes the credit agencies a few weeks after the date to update. Definately check tho as sometimes they "forget" to remove them even after the 6 years.
