When i signed up for the trial last month i didn't know such a statutory report existed. I only signed up for experian because it was mentioned here.
I have since cancelled my experian subscription before my free month is up so haven't paid them a penny. Thankfully, because cancelling with them was a nightmare. Spoke to a really pushy sales person, i dont like their business practices at all. No wonder you can only cancel over the phone!0 -
If you applied for credit with the same bank you have savings with they would have access to that data. How can you possibly know they don't take that into account?
Of course there's also the other half a million scattered around in other places, which they don't know anything about.
Any assessment of my credit-worthiness made by a bank or CC provider on the basis of the information available to them is a complete joke.
Luckily it hasn't become a bad joke yet."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -
I think it's time everyone should be entitled to a free credit report from all CRAs every 6 months. Credit reports are free in the US and Australia, not sure how often you can get one though. The banks can pay for it, if they don't want to, they are free not to credit check people.
In US, you get access to your credit report for free once a year only. For other times, you gotta pay.0 -
I started to sign up for a free trail from CreditExpert, got as far as entering my email address and then decided against it, closed the web page and switch the laptop off, today I have received an email from them asking me to complete my membership.
How did they know that I had even attempted to sign up when I didn't send them anything?? Does it mean that they collect data off your computer without telling you if you go to their website??
They most probably saved your email from the form - most companies do that and then re-target the individuals to complete the signup later on.0 -
Only credit application searches affect credit scores. I'll check whether the summary screen you see is miscounting them. Utility applications do count, but searches left by you checking your own credit report certainly don't.
