Water Bill after an year

Dear MSEs,
I used to rent about an year ago, and the flat management company read the individual meter and produced an individual bill using that reading from the communal bill the flat block got from southern water. They sent it to me and not the landlord, so I always paid them.

The management company changed hand, and I was renting there for a further one year, and then left, coming to a year since I left.

Today got a bill from the letting agents, asking me to pay a certain amount, based on the water service charge bill sent to the landlord by the management company. This bill is for nearly an year, but the have split it pro rata based on the number of days!!

I have no issues paying for the water I used, but, there are no meter readings or continuity from the last bill.

Just a random sum is allocated for one year and I am asked to pay a portion based on days rather than use!!

And I am asked to pay this to the letting agent!!!! and not the water supplier

The invoice from the flat management company is made to the landlord. And I am getting this bill one year after I moved from the flat.

What do you advice? :(
