CDA CD251SS Oven heating issue

Hi all,

I have a CDA CD251SS oven, which isn't heating up to the required temp & is taking nearly double the time to cook.

I am unsure if this is due to the element or something else, can anyone advise.

Also I am now advised that CDA don't make the grill/oven element for this oven, does anyone know if there is a compatible grill/oven element I could use? I am unable to find a element part number!..

The element isn't a circular one, that would sit at the back of an oven, but instead it's fixed to the top of the oven & supplies the grill & the oven.
Thanks

  • This is a common problem with - umm, shall we say "budget appliances".

They are always fitted with a much lower rated heating element - for two reasons:
    1. Cost.
    2. So they can claim (somewhat disingenuously) to use less electricity that more expensive, non budget ovens.

When I moved into my apartment there was a Beko oven fitted - same problem. 3 times it was "repaired" - still the same !
Decided to bin it - bought a Bosch. Keeps to temperature and cooks in half the time.
Beko was 1.85 kW (as is the CDA), the Bosch is 2.3 kW.

Without going into a long detailed explanation - to cook an item will take a certain amount of electricity. With a lower rated element, it will be using less electricity at any instant - but for a longer period. If you take into account the lower thermal insulation of the budget item it will probably use more electricity overall than the higher powered one. The lower rated item will have much more difficulty in maintaining the required temperature - and will, of course, take longer to get there.

I would suggest that you bin it too.............

Thanks, but you seemed to have missed my point.

My oven was working 100% until recently where it now doesn't heat up the the correct temp & takes double the time to cook.

Sorry if I wasn't clear in my original post.

    Cheers
