Energy Performance Certificate

Can anyone tell me where I can find out what information the HIP assessors use and how the information is used to produce an energy performance certificate? I would like to be able to check the calculations the assessor does and how the assessment is made. Are the calculations done manually or is it software based? Is this information available or is it a deadly serious secret?

There is a sample energy certificate here which gives an idea of what is in it

Thanks Alan. I had seen this and their are one or two others but they don't enable you to do the calculations yourself. I know the assessors have to go on a course but what they are doing is essentially ticking boxes and awarding points. Why are these things always made so mystical (rhetorical question)?0

This is worth a look

It gives some detail on the national calculation methods and you can even download some software (access database)0 -

I think there may be some confusion between the methods required to calculate compliance with L1 and the calculations for EPC. The former is certainly software based and expensive but the latter is I am sure a lot simpler as many of the EPC assessors will not have the resources to use sophisticated software. I am making some enquiries through some old contacts and will post anything I find.0

Thanks for the lead on rdsap 03022242. I have found a document that lists the questions the assessor goes through but does not give the scores. I have been told there is a spreadsheet somewhere that enables the total score to be established. Still looking for this. There is also commercial software but that would obviously cost.0

economiser can you give a link to the document you found listing the questions the assessor goes though...Thanks
Does anyone know if it is expensive to go on one of these courses and if members of the general public can go on them and get trained up ?"The time is always right to do what is right"0 -
