Another home visit on JSA, is this common?

Been through similar, my wife is terminally ill, I was made redundant, so claimed I/S and C/A, no money for months, all in all its now been 20 weeks waiting. I was reported for working, were watched etc. Satisfied compliance. Then asked for bank statements and a copy of marriage cert, (mix up with surnames). This is the best bit after many stressfull weeks of having nothing and excuses. Wrote to our MP.Wait for it....
The manager who we were talking to from near day one, had opened a bank account in my wifes name, and directed all our payments into her bank account. Basically she ID frauded my wife. My wife is living on borrowed time, the DWP manager used this.
We are still waiting for benefits, I believe the police are involved and today she is getting sacked. We still do not have our marriage cert. back, and we are going to prosecute her also, alongside the DWP.0 -
He who pays the piper. We value our privacy, and it seems that our lives are not our own when claiming benefits. Once is fair enough, but twice? And, where is it going to end?. How would you feel knowing that someone you probably know is doing this behind your back? More than once too. No wonder we are stressed.
Stop taking the money and you can be as private as you like.0 -

When you claimed benefits you invited the state into your life by wanting their intervention.
With the intervention (ie the cash) comes a level of scrutiny of your private financial affairs.
the only way to stop this is to stop claiming.
D70How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?0 -

It's fair enough that people have to provide financial details when they claim. It's also fair enough that the benefit staff have to follow up fraud allegations. It isn't fair that the OP seems to be being maliciously targeted by person or persons unknown.
Also, I don't see the point in the visits to the OP's home. They were given notice of the visit.
If anyone was on the fiddle, they'd have had time cover their tracks by hiding work clothes and organising a few hours off work. If you want to catch someone working when they shouldn't be, surely the best place to catch them is at work, not at home.
When I was visited by the housing benefit officer, it was out of the blue. There was a point to the visit. It was to check I really lived there. If I'd been claiming fraudulently and sub-letting it would have been difficult to cover that up.0 -

I understand this is becoming stressful, probably compounded by the suggestion now that one of your neighbours is repeatedly reporting you. But worrying will do nothing to help you, nor do you know that a neighbour has it in for you, so if at all possible, please try and stop dwelling on it.
I don't know your circumstances, but if you did end up having to have a visit once every six months for the remainder of your time on JSA would that be the end of the world?
I have been in rented accomodation where it was written into the contract that the letting agent would inspect the property once every three months - it was a bind, but not the end of the world. My childminder's home is inspected annually to ensure she is keeping to standards, she doesn't enjoy these visits, but it's part of keeping her registration to allow her to work.
My brother whilst on sick leave following an industrial accident that left his arm temporarily paralysed was visited at home monthly initially and then every fortnight by his HR department.
Sometimes it's a matter of how we percieve things: If you accept that this is the way things are, then two visits of a day? an afternoon? a couple of hours? during a year really is not that much intrusion into your private life and you won't get so stressed about them.:AA/give up smoking (done)

The DWP are quick enough to investigate, any accusation made against a claimer. go through their lives, privacy etc. Prosecute where need be, so I DO HOPE this happens, there is too much propaganda from the media, about claiments , no one knows how their own lives will pan out, but are quick enough to !!!!! at us.
The DWP themselves fraud people. I am in the frame of mind to go to the press about this.0 -
Really cannot see the problem.
DWP are more than welcome to come round my place weekly of they like, as long as they give me a hundred pound or so a week.0
