the first thing you will have to do if you have not actually used gas at the property is ask the appropriate gas network - the people who own the pipes from the street into the property to do a live or dead check -to confirm the pipe is still live and fit for purpose - once done ensure you have the reference number for the job and contact supplier to have a meter installed -
Couple of things even though supplier took meter away have you paid any bills or are you getting any?
You will have to talk to suppliers re charges as depends on so many things including your credit rating, if you have had a gas supply elsewhere etc etcI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -
southern gas andelectric owned the gas meter apparently... had electricity bills as used that but never gas bill??
the guy from utilities said to tell southern gas the builder had failed to remove it hence the damage but I can shop around for the best deal on a new meter then???it on the outside of the house and had to have it r e rendered before could have a new meter according to utilities man.
the meters ben gone about a month.
thank u so much for info???
any idea of approximate cost of new meter??
also best supplier??0 -
£65 pre pay, £58 credit U6. Also you will owe the origional supplier the cost of the meter for your contractor causing damage to their equipment. SGN dont own metersDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

so I l have to pay for tha damaged meter??? will they contact me???0

Maybe the builder needs to pay for it?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

I do hope the builder was a gas safe engineer or used one to do it. Was there a leak or such for Ng to be called or did your supplier send a metering engineer out.?I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

i phoned the gas supplier as there was a kink in the pipe and i was worried. they sent utilities to take it away... not heard from anyone since??? had e mail from swalec saying they l put a new meter in no charge??0

kink in which pipe? the pipe before the meter - if so has this been dealt with as may lead to pressure problems or kink in pipe coming out of the meter in which case that is an issue for rgi.
It is odd for the meter to be taken away for damaged pipe, - either way best get a live or dead check done 1st as you do not want a meter installer arriving to find no gas from road.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -
very not normal for the meter to be taken, trust me I fight with the network allday. Only reason they are taken if unsafe. if it was the pipe they would just cap.
With it been the meter has been removed due to damage, as soon as the supplier who takes it on notices its meterless will make a call to the grid and find out your contractor damaged itDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
