Welsh student juggling the money

I am lucky in two respects:
1) a Welsh student starting in Uni Sept 2013
2) parents happy to pay maintenance.
Is the scam of taking the maintenance loan and putting in an Isa still worth it?
Bearing in mind I may not be paying off the whole loan (subject to my salary)
